Artscape 2014 is July 18-20!
What is Artscape?
Artscape is a free arts festival in Downtown Baltimore with visual arts exhibits, live concerts, performing arts, family events, and more. You can even visit the Meyerhoff for a backstage tour of the BSO!
Over 350,000 people are expected to visit over the three day event. Hours are Friday 11am-9pm, Saturday 11am-9pm and Sunday 11am-8pm.
The location of the festival is Mount Royal Ave & Cathedral St, Charles St, Bolton Hill, + the Station North Arts and Entertainment District area. Be aware there are many roads closed around the festival, so plan to find parking a bit away, or take the light rail. The official parking garages are The Fitzgerald Garage located at 1201 West Mt Royal Ave, and The Meyerhoff Garage, at 1212 Cathedral Street.
This year’s theme is “Join the Movement,” with a focus on dance. There will be performances by Ballet Memphis and the Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater, ballroom dancing, kinetic sculptures, plus a NEW Aerial Arts Arena, located at Charles & Preston Streets.
Last year they created a free app event, which can help you navigate the different areas, locate performance schedules, and get updates about any changes that may occur.
Baltimore Artscape has a great website, which shows the garages that are open as well as public transportation options that will get you close by. The site has details about the festival, how to plan your visit, a map of where to go for certain exhibits, and explanations of what you will find when you visit.
