The total volume of Cockeysville homes that sold in April was $5,281,875.

A good number that was up was the average sold price, up 22.26% to $406,298. There were three high priced homes, one over $1Million, and two just under, that sold last month.

Thirteen homes changed hands in April, and it took 71 days, on average, for a 21030 home to receive an acceptable contract. One home sold the day it came on the market, while another five sold in less than 10.

Twenty-two Hunt Valley homes went under contract in April, while 45 homes came on the market.  There were a total of 65 Hunt Valley homes for sale by the end of April, which is a large drop from the 97 last year at the same time.

The total volume of Towson homes sold in April was $7,013,900, up from $4,996,000 last April. This is a 40.39% increase! This is also a big jump from last month, where $3,517,900 sold, as seen in 21204 home sales March 2013.

Ten homes sold in April, which is actually one less than April 2012. The average sales price for homes that settled last month was $701,390, which is up 54.43% from the average sales price of $454,182 at the same time last year. This is very much likely due to the fact that one of the 10 homes sold was OVER $2.5 Million!

There were 32 Towson homes that entered the market in April, while 22 homes went under contract.

• Oregon Ridge Beach in Hunt Valley opens for the season. Admission price is not very expensive, and you can also get a season pass. The beach will be open all weekend from 10am-6 or 7pm. The water closes 1/2 hour before the beach does. There are more details on the Baltimore County Government site. The weather is supposed to be nice, but not hot, so you can also check out Oregon Ridge Park for fun and nature!
• Fort McHenry in Downtown Baltimore is open all weekend, and on Monday from 10am-4:30pm they have a special observance for Memorial Day. The flags will be raised at full mast at noon, there is a National Moment of Silence at 3pm, plus information about the history of Memorial Day. Here is the Fort’s website with more information.
• Pools open! If you don’t have a membership to a local pool, sometimes you can get a day pass, or you may be able to find a public pool (there are a few in Baltimore City, including one new one in 2013) to visit, though this Memorial Day looks to be lovely, it doesn’t seem hot enough for a pool!
• Visit a park! The NCR Trail runs from Hunt Valley to the Pennsylvania line. There are trails, water for kayaking, white water rafting (though the water would most likely be rather cold!) and more. Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley, Gunpowder Park on the Eastern side, and in Downtown Baltimore, Druid Hill Park, Patterson Park, Federal Hill Park and others.
• Balticon Science Fiction Festival is in Hunt Valley May 24-27!
• Sowebo Arts & Music Festival is Sunday, May 26 12-8pm. Live music on four stages, art show, kids’ activities, and more. Admission is FREE! More details are on their website. SoWeBohemian is held near Historic Hollins Market in the 1100 Block of Hollins St in Downtown Baltimore.
• Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium has a tribute to those who have defended our country’s freedom on Monday the 27th at 10am.

A number of Baltimore museums are celebrating with buy one, get one free admission.

The many participating museums appear to trade off days when they have the BOGO deal, so make sure to check the Visit Baltimore site to check which places offer which days.

Participating museums include The Maryland Science Center, Port Discovery Children’s Museum, B&O Railroad Museum, Baltimore Museum of Industry, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and more. Other big name museums are participating one or two days.

Some additional museums are showcasing special events as well!

The site does want to note that The Baltimore Museum of Art and the Walters Art Museum (which is open Wednesday-Sunday) offer Free Admission year-round.

Baltimore Museum Week is being held in conjunction with the American Alliance of Museums’ conference, which is being held in Baltimore during this time.

This is a big weekend in Baltimore, with Preakness 2013 on Saturday, and this starting this weekend and running through the week!

Councilman David Marks sent an email to parents of children at West Towson, Ridge Ruxton, Stoneleigh, Rodgers Forge and Hampton elementary schools to invite them, but Towson community leaders are urging anyone with concerns about the schools to attend.

Hopefully this input meeting will be the beginning of solid planning to help Towson school overcrowding.
