This weekend is “Dollar or Less Days” in Downtown Baltimore, where museums open for a dollar or less — and invite you to join in the fun!
This is part of the “Downtown for the Holidays” promotion, trying to bring people Downtown in the month of December.
There are 15 museums participating this year, including the Baltimore Museum of Industry, Port Discovery (Sunday only), National Aquarium, and the Maryland Science Center. Some of these museums charge much more on a regular basis, so these are fantastic deals!
Keep in mind that due to the deals, expect crowds, and limited availability. Make sure to arrive early! Here is a full list of the participating museums, and the times and days they are joining in.

Milkshake Valentine Show for Autism Speaks

Milkshake is playing a show on Sunday, February 13, 2011 to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money for Autism Speaks.
The Valentine’s Day Spectacular concert will be at Ram’s Head Live in Downtown Baltimore, with doors opening at 1 pm, and the concert beginning at 2 pm.
Other fun things include face painting, balloon art, chocolate kisses, flowers, cartoons and videos.
Tickets are $15 per person, while children under the age of 2 are free. You can get a four person family pass for $50!
A portion of the proceeds goes to Autism Speaks, which is an organization that supports the understanding, support, and advocacy so needed for families of children with autism.
What a great way to raise money and awareness while having fun with the whole family!

New Year’s Eve at Port Discovery in Baltimore 2010

To celebrate the last year of 2010 and prepare to welcome 2011, Port Discovery is having a mid-day event on Friday for those who may not make it to midnight!
Dubbed “Noontime New Year”, this should be a great time for kids & adults alike.
This year’s theme is “A Masquerade Bash”, so revelers should come in their favorite costume to celebrate.
Beginning at 10 am, number decorating and sound sandwiches kick off, while 11 am starts the Mardi Gras mask making and Egyptian juggling lessons.
At 12:30 & 1, Eric Energy will be doing an interactive science show, while 1:30 & 2 Uncle Pete Fun with Kids shows will occur.
Many other exhibits and New Year’s activities will be going on throughout the day, culminating in the Drum Countdown, with milk & cookies to celebrate the day & prepare to welcome 2011!
So come to Downtown Baltimore early in the day and miss the big New Year’s Eve crowds in the cold that night!
Downtown Baltimore Dollar Days December 4 & 5, 2010

Downtown Baltimore will be having its’ Dollar or Less Days on December 4 & 5, 2010 as part of the Downtown for the Holidays promotion in the City.
Put together and promoted by the Downtown Partnership, this is a great opportunity to visit many participating museums, centers, and attractions in Downtown Baltimore — all for $1 or less admission!
Participating museums include the Walters Art Museum, the National Aquarium in Baltimore (which usually costs over $30 per person, so this is a GREAT deal!), the American Visionary Arts Museum (AVAM), the Maryland Science Center, Top of the World Observation Level at the World Trade Center, Historic Ships in Baltimore, and Port Discovery!
The 2009 Dollar Days promotion was such a huge success that many of the museums and attractions wanted to join in again, and there are now 17 places to attend for these inexpensive prices. Know that some have limited availability, so make sure to find out limitations, and requirements, so you are able to take advantage of these great deals!

Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. in Baltimore on Monday, January 18, 2010

Monday has Baltimore schools, plus government and local services closed in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
This is a day celebrating a man who did so much, and there are many things to do in Baltimore to remember him!
In Downtown Baltimore there is a parade at noon on his namesake street, Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
Port Discovery has its’ “I Have a Dream” weekend Saturday through Monday with quilt making with the African American Quilters of Baltimore and the Fun Drum Rhythm Circle to celebrate the life and work of Dr. King.
The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture will have a book discussion, crafts for children, films, and musical entertainment throughout the day.
The American Visionary Arts Museum past Federal Hill will offer free admission and tours, birthday cake, performances and demonstrations to “honor the life and dreams of one of the greatest visionaries in recent history.”
If you are in Baltimore County, you can send kids 6-9 years old to Oregon Ridge Nature Center in Cockeysville for their “Nature Day Camp” from 10 am – 3 pm. For $10 per child, kids will get an outdoor nature adventure! That evening at 7:30 pm there is a lecture on “How Insects Make the World Go Around.”
So much to do to learn about and honor the man, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, whose life had such an impact on all of our lives!
Port Discovery in Downtown Baltimore Celebrates Littles Day Saturday January 9, 2010

Port Discovery in continues its childrens New Year celebration this Saturday, January 9, 2010 with Littles Day designed for the little ones in the crowd!
The Museum and exhibits open at 10 am along with an always-popular moonbounce.
From 11:30 am -12:30 pm Bubbles the Clown will do magic and balloons.
Face painting runs from 12-2 pm and The Kindersinger performs ”It’s A Happy New Year” from 1-1:30 pm.
As always, the awesome exhibits will be open from 10-5 so there is much to do all day long! Lots of indoor fun to be had this January in Downtown Baltimore!

New Year’s Eve Daytime Celebration at Port Discovery in Downtown Baltimore

For the young ones in the crowd who can’t make it up until midnight on the 31st, Port Discovery has it’s Noontime New Year from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm on December 31, 2009 in Downtown Baltimore.
At noon, the countdown will happen with Maryland Public Television favorite Bob the Vid Tech, Bob Heck.
Kids will celebrate with milk & cookies and enjoy multi cultural celebrations from around the world!
There will be many activities including origami, calligraphy, pasta making, mask creating, and much more. There will be performances by dance troupes and singing groups — a huge celebration all day.
This should be a fun time for all, especially those who have been off from school since December 23rd (or earlier.) A chance to get out, enjoy, and celebrate the New Year in a very different way!

December ushers in a beautiful time in Downtown Baltimore and the this year, the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore has made it even more affordable than ever to enjoy!
Next weekend, December 5 & 6, 2009 are Dollar or Less Days! 15 Downtown museums are offering this great price.
One of these is Port Discovery, which on Sunday is offering the $1 admission price on Sunday. Admission is usually $12.95, so this is an AMAZING deal!
Add onto that the National Aquarium in Baltimore is offering limited tickets at this price, and theirs is normally $29.95 for adults, and the Maryland Science Center usually at $14.95, these are incredible offers that you should take advantage of! Kids can dress in costume and decorate cupcakes, do crafts, get their faces painted, play at the museum — and enjoy a fun moonbounce too!
