What are nine home design trends decorators expect to see the rest of this Summer of 2026?

  1. Pattern Mixing. A combination of Maximalism and Minimalism styles, taking into consideration affordability, functionality, and comfortability are important while also being expressive.
  2. “GrandmaCore” – yes, Grandma. Searching flea markets or accepting inherited furniture, while updating with modern touches is popular. Vintage looks were popular last summer too.
  3. Fashion Accessories. Using clothing accessories like fringe, tassels, and brooches in designs brings GrandmaCore and pattern mixing together.
  4. Painted Ceilings and “Statement Doors”. Choosing a bright color from patterned decor to paint the ceiling or a door is a new look.
  5. Painted Trim. For those who aren’t ready to commit to painting ceilings, painting trim a bright color is a way to bring a fresh look to a space.
  6. Custom Drapes and Valances. They are back! Once a popular theme, the trend is making an appearance again.
  7. Gaming Rooms or Hobby Rooms are another item gaining popularity. They also were trendy last year.
  8. Woodwork. Not just hardwood floors, but wood cabinetry and furniture are being showcased. Wood decor was popular last summer too.
  9. Smart Storage. Built-in cabinets, entertainment cabinets and prefabricated storage can be both beautiful and useful.
