Charm City Circulator Green Route Launches

The Charm City Circulator in Baltimore added the Green Line this morning, November 1, 2011.

The Green Line has stops in Fells’ Point, the Water Taxi at Maritime Park (At Caroline and Thames,) the Shot Tower (near the Metro and Power Plant Live), Johns Hopkins Medical Campus, plus City Hall.

Today also adds a Howard Street/Pratt Street stop to the Orange line, near the light rail.

New Year’s Eve at Port Discovery in Baltimore 2010

To celebrate the last year of 2010 and prepare to welcome 2011, Port Discovery is having a mid-day event on Friday for those who may not make it to midnight!

Dubbed “Noontime New Year”, this should be a great time for kids & adults alike.

This year’s theme is “A Masquerade Bash”, so revelers should come in their favorite costume to celebrate.

Beginning at 10 am, number decorating and sound sandwiches kick off, while 11 am starts the Mardi Gras mask making and Egyptian juggling lessons.

At 12:30 & 1, Eric Energy will be doing an interactive science show, while 1:30 & 2 Uncle Pete Fun with Kids shows will occur.

Many other exhibits and New Year’s activities will be going on throughout the day, culminating in the Drum Countdown, with milk & cookies to celebrate the day & prepare to welcome 2011!

So come to Downtown Baltimore early in the day and miss the big New Year’s Eve crowds in the cold that night!

Charm City Circulator Purple Route

The Charm City Circulator Purple Route is now running in Baltimore City.

The Purple Route runs from Penn Station to Federal Hill.

It runs through Mount Vernon, and goes through the Inner Harbor at Light Street. It runs down St. Paul Street, has multiple stops in Federal Hill and turns around at Key Highway, coming back up Charles Street.

The Charm City Circulator Orange Route, which was the first one open in March, 2010, runs an east-west route along Lombard and Pratt Streets. Now the Purple Route adds a North-South connection. The Green Route is due to open soon.

Charm City Circulator — Free Transportation in Baltimore City

Have you heard of the free bus transportation available in Baltimore City called the Charm City Circulator?

This is a new great idea from the City of Baltimore that will run three routes and transport workers, commuters, students, visitors and the like for FREE. The busses run every 10 minutes from designated stops on the lines.

The first one up & running is the ORANGE ROUTE, which runs from Hollins Market to Harbor East. It runs around Little Italy and along Lombard Street down to the University of Maryland Baltimore right by the UMD Medical Center, and loops back around and heads back to Harbor East going down Pratt Street. It has 26 stops in all, including the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the Inner Harbor, as well as the Convention Center and Camden Yards.

The Purple Route will run Penn Station to Federal Hill, and the Green Route will run run from City Hall to Johns Hopkins.

This is an exciting initiative set forth in Baltimore, and even more exciting is that the busses are DesignLine 2009 EcoSaver IV LF Hybrid Electric vehicles, which conserve gas and are good for the environment. The goal of the Circulator, per the Baltimore.org site,  is to “reduce congestion and greenhouse gas pollution by offering a convenient, reliable and eco-friendly form of public transportation.”

So, hop on the Circulator and help the environment while getting where you need to be in Downtown Baltimore quickly & efficiently.
