The Zillow Group Consumer Housing Trends Report 2019 is a very interesting look at the general real estate market across the US.

The researchers got information from 13,000 consumers to create their report.

From those surveyed, the average age of a homebuyer was 43. About 49% lived with children under the age of 18. The typical home bought was 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, and about 2000 square feet. 40% of homebuyers last year stayed in the same city where they had been living before purchasing, while 15% stayed even in the same neighborhood. They searched for an average of 4.5 months, and 55% of them made some financial sacrifices to buy their house.

Typical Home Sellers, on the other hand, average 48 years old. 64% were buying and selling at the same time. The top stresses they felt were not knowing how long it would take to sell their home (and if it would be in their desired time frame,) and not knowing if it would sell for the price they wanted. 81% of sellers made some sort of concession.

I found the Zillow Group Consumer Housing Trends Report 2019 to be a very interesting, very detailed, and very telling report.

I appreciate the in-depth reporting a questioning, and the willingness of so many people to participate.

One big takeaway for me was something I already knew, but I am not sure people outside of the real estate professional world completely understand. Buying or selling a home is an extremely stressful process, and it is also very complicated.
