A Baltimore City property tax cut was proposed by Mayor Pugh to reduce the tax rate by 2021.

Mayor Pugh’s goal is to have the Baltimore City owner occupied property tax rate reduced to under 2% of an assessed property’s value. Her hope is to have it reduced to 2.048% by this coming July, according to an article in the Baltimore Sun.

The Sun article states that the owner occupied tax reduction would actually be in the form of a tax credit, which would apply to the assessed value of the improvements on a property of land.

Now, the proposal has to pass the Board of Estimates and City Council in order to be enacted. If you are a Baltimore City homeowner, you may want to contact your City Council representative! This is good for Baltimore City homeowners! I hope it gets passed!
