Considering downsizing in Baltimore?

If you are a senior, and considering downsizing in Baltimore, I am a Seniors Real Estate Specialist® and can help!

Downsizing your home can seem like an unsurmountable task. I assure you it is not!

The first step is to assess how large of a space you will be moving into. If you are moving into a 1200 sq ft condo, it is good to figure out how much space in your current home that would be, so you can visualize.

Then, you can make a list of furniture and items you really want to take. Lists can be very helpful in this process! Once you have made the list, you can measure the furniture and figure out whether it may or may not fit into your new home. Then, you can decide which pieces you REALLY want to keep vs those you do not.

With those bigger items chosen, it is time to move on to the smaller ones.

You can work backwards from your move date to when we meet, so a timeline can be drawn up. Remember the old adage – “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” That is the way to go. We can break down room to room so it becomes a manageable project.

If you don’t feel you are able, there are professionals who can be brought in to help facilitate the process. I have worked with a professional who has helped clients break things down further and she can also be hired to actually go through the items with you and separate out what is to save and what is to go. She can help manage donations, removal of items, and more.

Please contact me if you are considering downsizing in Baltimore. I would love to help you through the home sale process and potentially find you a new place to live, if you haven’t yet figured out that part. There are many smaller Lutherville homes, Timonium condos, or Towson homes. I’d love to be of assistance!
