Home Buyer optimism for 2022 is still high after a very busy and competitive 2021.

According to an article by NerdWallet, 1 in 10 of those surveyed plan to buy a house in the next 12 months.

Note: This poll was conducted in December 2021.

Key points found in their survey:

  • 34% of those surveyed say they feel better about their ability to purchase a home in 2022 compared with 2021.
  • 66% of those surveyed who began 2021 with plans to buy a home were unsuccessful. 89% say something is preventing them from listing, according to the survey.
  • 40% of those surveyed who want to put their homes on the market worry that they won’t be able to find a new house, which is preventing them from selling their homes.
  • Supply of homes was down a larger amount than last year, which created a hard market for buyers. The number of homes on the market is about half of what it was in 2019.

If you are thinking about buying a home in 2022, it is important to understand that it is possible that the supply of listings may not grow. There is the potential that there could be bidding wars in certain real estate locations in 2022.
