Home features that can bring in more money and sell your home faster comes from a Bloomberg article about design features that do more for their homes in resale than others.

Of course, design features and popularity change, so be aware that this list could see modifications in the future! (And there is no guarantee that these features will bring you more money – this is what a study found in general.)

One thing I have been seeing more often, especially in Downtown Baltimore homes is the Barn Door feature (you can get more info here about doors from experts). It is a space saver, because the doors don’t have to open into a room, therefore creating more space in that room.

What Zillow found, doing research, is that these sliding doors, in many areas of the country, were helping homes sell 57 days faster and get a 13.4% higher price than homes that do not have them.

The study, according to the Bloomberg article, was done from January 2014 and March 2016, and used homes of similar size, age, and other amenities, to ensure the data was correctly used and compared.

Farmhouse sinks and subway tile also brought good returns, which I have also been seeing a lot in Baltimore homes, and buyers have liked.

Also rounding out the list in what I have been seeing a lot of – stainless steel, granite, pendant lights, and backsplashes. In Downtown Baltimore areas like Canton, Federal Hill, and Locust Point, exposed brick is a popular design desire as well.
