If a neighbor’s tree falls in your yard or on your house, who is responsible?
This is a question I saw asked after one of the big thunderstorms we had recently in Baltimore.
Luckily Consumer Reports wrote a post about it on July 8, 2019 – right on a day we had wild flooding and many trees down nearby.
According to the Consumer Reports article, if your neighbor’s tree falls on your roof – you should contact YOUR homeowner’s insurance.
The article is very thorough, and discusses what happens if there is no damage to a structure, and potential liability in multiple situations.
Read the Consumer Reports article linked above for more details about trees falling and homeowner’s insurance responsibilities.
