Light City Baltimore is coming back Baltimore in 2017!

Last year was such a success that this year was in the works as the other one ended!

From March 31-April 8, 2017, there will be almost 30 concerts, one with Biz Markie as the headliner, and the main focus, like last year, is the 1.5 mile long light installation in Downtown Baltimore with 23 light installation shows or sculptures – with 21 of them new this year! The two returning installations are the two most talked-about from last year – the famed “The Peacock” and “The Pool” reflection piece.

Also returning this year is the Neighborhood Lights, which focuses illuminated art based on a neighborhood, and that piece will be on display in that neighborhood. They will be in Hampden, Hamilton/Lauraville, Coldstream, Little Italy, Greater Mondawmin, Sandtown-Winchester, Station North, and Waverly.

A neat part of the event is the kid-focused hands-on experience from 5-8pm each night at the Kaufman Pavilion Downtown with entertainment and lighted crafts called “Mini-Light City.”

Last year the event drew 400,000 visitors, and the organizers hope to see as many if not more this year.

Here are more details in a Baltimore Magazine article about the festival, and the website for the event.

Light City Baltimore was such a neat experience for many last year, and I hope that this year is just as successful! Come to Downtown Baltimore to enjoy this unique event!
