As we get further into Spring, there are some home maintenance items you can address.

Houzz has a monthly checklist on their site with some great ideas for April.

  1. Check for sitting water in pots, chairs, any items around your yard. Standing water can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. (After the rain we are due to get this coming Thursday-Saturday, there may be a lot of standing water in your yard!) Empty any items with standing water in it.
  2. Clean out trash cans.
  3. Clear clutter you may have collected over the winter. It can feel good to tidy up in the house!
  4. Schedule HVAC maintenance. It’s always good to have your system checked prior to switching from heat to A/C and vice versa.
  5. Clean up front and back porches. Remove cobwebs, clean any outdoor furniture.
  6. Wash your windows! (Or hire someone to do so!) Clean windows can let great spring and summer light in your home!
  7. Clean window screens & doors. (I would recommend cleaning these after the biggest pollen spread has passed.) Have any screens that have holes fixed.
  8. Wash your home’s exterior. If you use a power washer, make sure it is not a “zero” degree spray unit, so you have the ability to use a wide spray and not damage your exterior.
  9. Clean out your gutters and downspouts!
  10. Check your fences. Repair any damage.
