As we get further into Spring, there are some home maintenance items you can address.
Houzz has a monthly checklist on their site with some great ideas for April.
- Check for sitting water in pots, chairs, any items around your yard. Standing water can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. (After the rain we are due to get this coming Thursday-Saturday, there may be a lot of standing water in your yard!) Empty any items with standing water in it.
- Clean out trash cans.
- Clear clutter you may have collected over the winter. It can feel good to tidy up in the house!
- Schedule HVAC maintenance. It’s always good to have your system checked prior to switching from heat to A/C and vice versa.
- Clean up front and back porches. Remove cobwebs, clean any outdoor furniture.
- Wash your windows! (Or hire someone to do so!) Clean windows can let great spring and summer light in your home!
- Clean window screens & doors. (I would recommend cleaning these after the biggest pollen spread has passed.) Have any screens that have holes fixed.
- Wash your home’s exterior. If you use a power washer, make sure it is not a “zero” degree spray unit, so you have the ability to use a wide spray and not damage your exterior.
- Clean out your gutters and downspouts!
- Check your fences. Repair any damage.
