Every year, one third of Baltimore County Real Estate is reassessed for property tax purposes for the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.
Baltimore County has split the reassessments into areas. Each area is reassessed every three years. For January 1, 2025, Area 1 has been reassessed.
Should you be in Area 1 and want to appeal your property tax reassessment, you have 45 days from the Date of Notice to appeal. The notices were mailed Monday, December 30, 2024.

The State of Maryland noted that the total assessed value on both residential and commercial properties around the state rose a combined 20.1% over three years. The last time Area 1 was assessed was 2022, and the values had jumped up 12%.
Also, please check to make sure if you live in your Baltimore County home as your primary residence that your Maryland Homestead Tax Credit is currently active. On your primary home, this can cap your tax rate increase on your home!
