Baltimore home sales were down in September by 19.4% over September 2009, with 1,706 homes sold versus 2,117 this time last year.
At the same time in 2009, we had the First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit, which was originally due to expire September 30, 2009, before it was extended.
The Baltimore County housing market took a large hit at 25.7% less homes sold and price down 1.4% to an average of $212,000. Here is the September Baltimore County home sales report from MRIS, the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, and RETI, the Real Estate Trends Indicator from RealEstate Business Intelligence, LLC.
Baltimore City house prices dropped a large 26%, and number of houses sold was down 17%.
What this shows is that Baltimore house values continue to drop, and sellers need to be ahead of the market instead of behind it when pricing their homes to sell.
