What are five home design trends decorators expect to see the rest of this summer?
Martha Stewart’s site uses data from Houzz searches to consider trends.
- The site expects to see Beverage Stations galore. I have been seeing them pop up more regularly in the Baltimore real estate market. Whether iced coffee, regular coffee, wines or whiskey, these stations have become a dedicated space to drinks.
- Game Areas are another item gaining popularity. If there is a large yard, maybe a putting green or badminton or volley ball net could be seen, or if it’s hot and you are looking for inside fun, pool tables, ping pong, dedicated gaming rooms, or poker tables may be found.
- Wood decor is a popular search term, with wood accents, wood floors, even wood shades dominating online searches.
- Vintage design is also expected to be popular – and multiple sites seem to agree on this. From vintage finds at second-hand stores to “vintage-inspired” furniture, look for old-world charm and design this summer.
- Gold and copper finishes. Metal accents like copper pendant lights, copper sinks, brushed gold faucets…all popular this summer.
Do any of these home design trends appeal to you? How do you think they would translate into future designs?
